Mr Mohammed Akbar Hussain

Mr Mohammed Hussain is a Consultant Neurosurgeon practicing at Nuffield Health Newcastle and within the NHS at Newcastle upon Tyne NHS Foundation Trust. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of London in 2007 and has since developed a highly specialised practice in both functional and general neurosurgery.

Mr Hussain refined his expertise at the Walton Centre in Liverpool, where he trained in functional neurosurgery with a focus on the surgical management of complex conditions such as chronic pain and epilepsy. He has particular expertise in operating on areas of the brain responsible for critical functions such as speech and movement by using advanced neuroimaging, intraoperative monitoring, and awake surgical techniques to maximise tumour resection while preserving neurological function.

His clinical interests also include neuro-oncology and the management of nerve-related pain affecting the arms and legs, often arising from spinal conditions in the neck and lower back. He offers a range of treatments including decompression surgery and neuromodulation techniques such as spinal cord stimulation.

Mr Hussain’s practice encompasses functional neurosurgery, trigeminal neuralgia, spinal pain syndromes, and advanced surgical approaches to complex brain and nerve disorders.
