Dr. Charles Andrews

Dr. Charles Andrews is a GP with an extended role in gastroenterology (GPwER) based near Bath, UK. He works as a GP partner at Somer Valley Medical Group in Midsomer Norton and also practices as an endoscopist in the local area. His expertise in gastroenterology complements his work as a general practitioner, where he has gained considerable experience in managing a wide range of conditions.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Andrews plays an instrumental role in developing the GPwER in gastroenterology training programme across the Southwest of England, which has expanded nationally. This programme is supported by both the Primary Care Society of Gastroenterology (PCSG) and the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG). He is a committed committee member of the PCSG and hosts the Ingest Podcast, an educational platform focused on primary care and gastroenterology.

Dr. Andrews holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Nottingham and a Postgraduate Diploma in Gastroenterology from the University of South Wales, where he graduated with Distinction.

Passionate about community services and improving healthcare pathways, Dr. Andrews is dedicated to enhancing clinical roles in gastroenterology within primary care. He is an advocate for developing interface roles for GPwERs to improve patient care and healthcare system efficiency.
