Dr Caroline Hayhurst

Dr Caroline Hayhurst is a Consultant Neurosurgeon who provides specialised care for complex neurological conditions. Serving as Clinical Lead for Skull Base and Pituitary Surgery, she focuses on diagnosing and surgically managing intricate disorders affecting the brain and cranial base. Dr Hayhurst is committed to delivering individualised, evidence-based treatment plans using advanced techniques designed to optimise patient safety, recovery, and long-term outcomes.

Her primary clinical focus encompasses both open and minimally invasive endoscopic skull base procedures, as well as complex pituitary surgery. Dr Hayhurst possesses extensive expertise in managing a wide range of conditions affecting the base of the skull, including acoustic neuromas (vestibular schwannomas), cranial nerve schwannomas, meningiomas, pituitary adenomas, craniopharyngiomas, chordomas, and epidermoid cysts. In addition, she utilises innovative neuro-endoscopic techniques, including transorbital neuroendoscopic pathways, to access and repair cranial base lesions through minimally invasive approaches.

Dr Hayhurst completed advanced specialist fellowships in neurosurgery in Toronto and Sydney, gaining broad international experience in skull base and pituitary interventions. Alongside her clinical practice, she is an active clinical researcher with numerous published studies and serves as an Honorary Lecturer and academic Programme Leader for postgraduate neurosurgical education. She holds professional memberships with the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Society of British Neurological Surgeons, the British Skull Base Society, and the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies.
