Mr Bernard Van Duren

Dr Bernard (Ben) van Duren is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist interests in hip and knee surgery, including joint replacement, hip preservation and the management of arthritis in younger, active patients. He also performs robotic-assisted knee replacement and uses the anterior approach for hip replacement where appropriate.

After graduating from the University of Warwick in 2012, Dr van Duren completed specialist orthopaedic training across London, Oxford and Yorkshire before undertaking fellowship training in Nottingham and Northumbria in hip and knee surgery. Alongside his surgical training, he completed a DPhil at the University of Oxford and is a Chartered Engineer. He is also an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Engineering at the University of Leeds, where his research focuses on technologies to improve outcomes following joint replacement.

His approach centres on helping patients choose the most appropriate treatment and implants to support their recovery and long-term mobility.
