Dr. Barbara Carey

Dr Barbara Cary is an Oral Medicine Consultant who specialises in the treatment, diagnosis, and management of oral conditions such as dry mouth, infections, oral-facial pain, trigeminal neuralgia, pigmented lesions, and oral ulceration. She sees private patients at the Harley Street Specialist Hospital.

Dr. Carey earned her dentistry qualification at University College Cork, after which she gained experience working in various hospital settings. She then gained membership with the Royal College of Surgeons, earning her FDS and FFD in Oral Medicine. Dr. Carey was then awarded the opportunity to train in London, and upon completion, was appointed Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Trust.

Dr. Carey also holds a fellowship with the Higher Education Authority since 2017, in addition to her membership with the Faculty of Dental Trainers. She is passionate about medical education, and regularly partakes in the training of specialist oral medicine registrars, acting as a clinical supervisor, educational supervisor, and examiner for MFDS examinations. She is also an active contributor to clinical research and has published her work in several academic journals.
