Dr Athar Badar

Dr Athar Badar is a highly accomplished Consultant Cardiologist based in Glasgow, specialising in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of a wide range of cardiovascular conditions. With a dedicated focus on cardiac imaging and heart failure, he provides comprehensive care for patients experiencing symptoms such as chest pain, palpitations, and hypertension. Dr Badar is committed to delivering personalised, reassuring, and evidence-based treatment plans, ensuring that each patient receives the highest standard of cardiac care tailored to their individual needs.

Dr Badar obtained his primary medical qualification from the University of Aberdeen, graduating in 2005. He subsequently completed his foundation training in the West of Scotland before moving to Northern England for core medical and early specialist training. He returned to the West of Scotland to complete his advanced specialist training, which included a prestigious two-year fellowship in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation. In 2009, he was awarded membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), and in 2019, he completed a postgraduate research degree (MD) at the University of Glasgow, focusing on angina pectoris in heart failure.

Throughout his career, Dr Badar has developed extensive expertise in advanced cardiac imaging techniques. He holds full professional accreditation in both transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography, as well as Level III accreditation in CT Coronary Angiography with the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging. Having previously served as a Cardiac Imaging Lead, he remains at the forefront of diagnostic cardiology, utilising state-of-the-art imaging to accurately assess coronary artery disease and cardiomyopathy. His research has been published in several high-impact medical journals, reflecting his ongoing commitment to advancing the field of Cardiology.
