Dr Eileen Peat graduated with a BSc (Hons) in medical science from St Andrews University prior to completing her clinical medical training in Aberdeen in 1996. Having spent her childhood in the West of Scotland she returned to the Western Infirmary in Glasgow for her junior doctor training.
After a period of research at Glasgow University to gain her Doctorate of Medicine ( MD) she completed specialist registrar training in cardiology throughout the Glasgow teaching hospitals. She was appointed as a cardiology consultant in 2009 based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley.
Her specific interests include exercise testing in health and heart disease which was the topic of her doctorate thesis. As well as a keen interest in coronary artery disease (chest pain) she is experienced in permanent pacemaker implantation as well as all aspects of general cardiology including the management of heart failure, valvular heart disease, palpitations and high blood pressure.
