About Professor Anthony Chow
Professor Anthony Chow Consultant Cardiologist, graduated from The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in 1990. He did his specialist cardiology training at Imperial College. He is accredited in General Medicine, coronary intervention, electrophysiology and devices for heart failure, becoming a consultant in 2002.
Professor Chow has multiple national and international awards for his research. Not only is he an expert in arrhythmia treatment and cardiac device therapy, he is also trained in general internal medicine, intervention in coronary disease with over 20 years of consultant experience in his specialist field. He continues to performs complex device and ablation procedures regularly. He is regarded as a senior expert in his field.
In 2002 Professor Chow was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at The Royal Berkshire and The Heart Hospital UCLH, he now works at The Barts Heart Center, BartsHealth, the largest cardiac centre in the UK, where he is an Honorary Professor with clinical, academic and teaching roles. He also provides clinical service for patients in Berkshire, North central and East London. He perrforms the most complex cardiac abaltion procedures, including pulse field ablation for AF, high risk VT ablation using the newest mapping systems. He performs complex pacing implants including leadless devices, CRT and appendage occlusion devices tomprevent strokes. He is regarded as one of the most experienced specialists in the UK and has trained a generation of fellows.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and an examiner for the University of London.
He is an Honorary Clinical Professor at Queen Mary University, an Honorary associate Professor at University College and is a visiting consultant at Great Orman Street Hospital.
Professor Chow is very active in research, winning a number of national and internation prizes for research, he has published in 200 peer reviewed international research papers. He is a reviewer for high impact cardiac journals and an examiner for the University of London.

Had a follow up appointment from an earlier heart condition
My appointment with Dr Chow was a follow-up following an unplanned admission to CCU via A&E at RBH with atrial fibrillation and atrial tachycardia. I have known Dr Chow since 2002. Dr Chow makes one feel completely at ease. He had clearly taken the time to review my medical history thoroughly and understood both my previous treatment and the events leading to my recent admission. The consultation lasted around 30 minutes, yet I never felt rushed. Dr Chow listened carefully, answered every question I had, explained my medication and treatment plan in clear, understandable language, and involved me fully in the discussion about the next steps. I left feeling reassured, much better informed, and confident about what would happen next. One aspect I particularly appreciated was his willingness to explain recent changes in NHS policy regarding catheter ablation, helping me understand how these developments relate to my own care. His knowledge, professionalism, kindness and calm manner inspired real confidence. I would have no hesitation in recommending Dr Chow to anyone requiring cardiology care. He combines exceptional clinical expertise with genuine compassion and excellent communication, qualities that make a significant difference to patients during what can be a worrying time.
My case was explained clearly and in terms I could understand. I felt the worry lifted because there were options and an immediate and further down the road plan.
The procedure was explained clearly and I felt reassured about what I would experience. After the procedure Professor Chow met me and explained the outcome of the procedure and follow up appointment. I felt very well cared for by Professor Chow and all staff I met in the day. Excellent care.
I had a brilliant experience with Professor Anthony Chow. After previous cardiology visits with no diagnosis/explanation for what was happening to me, he was able to diagnose me with WPW and treat me within a month. A year post surgery and I have not had any further issues with the WPW or afib
