Dr Amy McTague

Dr Amy McTague is an esteemed Consultant Paediatric Neurologist and Paediatrician specialising in the diagnosis and management of complex neurological conditions in infants, children, and young people. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, she provides dedicated clinical care to young patients affected by severe early-onset epilepsies and rare neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr McTague is committed to delivering reassuring and comprehensive support, guiding families through every step of assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management.

Dr McTague earned her primary medical qualifications, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), from the University of Edinburgh in 2000. Demonstrating a strong commitment to clinical research and academic excellence, she subsequently completed a PhD focusing on the genetics of early-onset epilepsy at University College London in 2016. She is also a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH), reflecting her high standards of professional practice and clinical expertise.

Her primary clinical focus centres on paediatric genetic epilepsies, early-onset seizures, and complex neurological management. As a Clinician Scientist, Dr McTague leads specialised genomic clinics and multidisciplinary team evaluations, utilising rapid genomic sequencing, detailed clinical phenotyping, and variant classification. Through her active role in early-phase clinical trials for novel targeted therapies, including treatments for conditions such as Dravet syndrome, she advances precision medicine to offer tailored treatment strategies for children with complex healthcare needs.
