Dr Ambar Basu

Dr Ambar Basu is a highly accomplished Consultant Physician specialising in Endocrinology & Diabetes, as well as General Medicine and Metabolic Medicine. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, he is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for individuals living with complex hormone-related conditions and metabolic disorders. Dr Basu has a particular clinical focus on thyroid diseases, lipid disorders, and parathyroid conditions, alongside managing both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. His clinical practice is characterised by a commitment to tailoring treatments to the unique needs of each patient, ensuring they receive the highest standard of support and guidance.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Basu is deeply committed to medical education and academic advancement. He holds a prestigious position as a Professor in Medicine and has served as a Training Programme Director for specialist registrars in his field. Dr Basu obtained his primary medical qualification, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), from the University of Calcutta in 1992. He subsequently completed his postgraduate specialist training in Diabetes & Endocrinology within the North-west of England, gaining invaluable experience across several leading healthcare institutions. Committed to educational excellence, he also earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Medical Education from Edge Hill University. Dr Basu is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London (FRCP London) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCP Edinburgh).
