Dr Alys Hunter

Dr Alys Hunter is a dedicated Consultant in General (Internal) Medicine who also possesses extensive expertise in Acute Medicine and clinical dermatology. She is deeply committed to providing rapid diagnostic evaluations, acute clinical management, and holistic treatment plans for adult patients presenting with complex medical conditions. Known for her thorough and empathetic approach, Dr Hunter works closely with patients to ensure they feel fully informed, supported, and reassured throughout their clinical care.

Dr Hunter commenced her undergraduate medical training at the University of Bristol in 2002, during which time she also served within the Royal Air Force Medical Services. Following her foundational hospital posts, she undertook higher specialist registrar training in General (Internal) Medicine and Acute Medicine, receiving her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). Broadening her clinical capabilities, she pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Practical Dermatology through Cardiff University and successfully passed national exit examinations in both Acute Medicine and Dermatology. She maintains active professional involvement in medical education, telemedicine, and military dermatological policy.

In her day-to-day practice, Dr Hunter delivers comprehensive clinical care across general medical and acute emergency presentations. Her sub-specialist clinical interests include the investigation and treatment of complex internal medical disorders, acute medical presentations, and dermatology. She has particular clinical expertise in managing inflammatory skin conditions, skin cancers, hair and nail disorders, and dermatological manifestations of systemic conditions such as vasculitis and paraneoplastic diseases.
