Dr Alison Pienaar

Dr Alison Pienaar is a Consultant Paediatrician and Specialist in Paediatric Intensive Care. Dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to young patients, she focuses on managing critically ill infants and children who require intensive care and specialised medical support. Her clinical practice centres on maintaining the highest standards of safety and providing reassuring, family-centred care during complex medical circumstances.

Dr Pienaar earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) from the University of the Free State in South Africa, where she subsequently completed her Master of Medicine (MMed) in Paediatrics and Child Health, completing her specialist training in 2008. She later completed advanced sub-specialty training in paediatric intensive care across major tertiary children's healthcare institutions in the United Kingdom. She holds specialist registration in Paediatrics with the General Medical Council (GMC) and the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

In her clinical practice, Dr Pienaar possesses sub-specialty expertise in paediatric retrieval medicine, which involves the transport and stabilisation of critically unwell children requiring intensive care transfers. She maintains a strong focus on patient safety, quality improvement, and multi-disciplinary critical care management. Dr Pienaar works closely with clinical teams to support families through critical health episodes and ensure high standards of patient care.
