Dr Alexander Thompson

Dr Alexander Thompson is an experienced Consultant Neurologist who provides expert assessment and management for patients presenting with a broad spectrum of neurological conditions. He holds a primary clinical focus on motor neurone disease (MND), also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), alongside managing general neurological disorders and neurodegenerative conditions. Dr Thompson is committed to delivering empathetic, patient-centred care, ensuring that individuals and their families receive clear explanations, supportive guidance, and personalised care strategies throughout their medical journey.

In addition to his consultant clinical practice, Dr Thompson is an accomplished Clinical Scientist and academic researcher. His research interests concentrate on advancing the early detection and management of neurodegenerative disorders, particularly through the development of neurochemical biomarkers and targeted gene therapies. By bringing cutting-edge research insights directly to clinical practice, Dr Thompson aims to optimise diagnostic accuracy and support the development of novel therapeutic approaches for complex neurological diseases.

Dr Thompson completed his undergraduate medical degree and earned his Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) at the University of Oxford. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP London).
