About Mr Alexander Anderson
Mr Anderson is a senior partner of Sheffield Orthopaedics Ltd (SOL) and is an NHS Consultant and Clinical Director of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at Rotherham General Hospital, with a private practice at Claremont with over a decades sub specialist Consultant experience.
Mr Anderson specialises solely in knee surgery in his private practice following higher surgical training knee fellowships in Harrogate and Sheffield over 15 years ago and extensive clinical experience since with a busy NHS and private practice since.
He treats all aspects of knee surgery in patients of all ages including complex problems from arthroscopy and soft tissue surgery for sports injuries through to arthroplasty (primary and revision). This includes; single and multiple ligament reconstruction, meniscal and chondral disorders, osteotomies, unicompartmental (partial) and total knee replacements and he is involved in international research trials. As with all of our SOL surgeons with its strong governance structure Mr Anderson consistently demonstrates excellent patient related outcome measures and low reoperation and complication rates compared to other UK surgeons.
Mr Anderson is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield, he is presently a member of a number of orthopaedic societies (BOA, BASK, ISAKOS, ESSKA) and continues to be actively involved in research having published in national and international journals. He enjoys teaching and training junior doctors and future surgeons as faculty on national exam courses arthroscopic workshops.

Fantastic service, very professional & definitely knew everything about knees
I had struggled with knee pain for 8 weeks, not being able to bend it and in bed it was very painful. I booked into see Mr Anderson for a consultation and he immediately gave me a diagnosis . I then went to Thornbury for the operation and had the procedure described to me as I viewed it on a screen . 8 weeks later I saw Mr Anderson for the final consultation and told him I was now pain free walking and cycling . I would definitely recommend Mr Anderson for his skill and compassion .
