Dr Alexa Childs

Dr Alexa Childs is a dedicated Consultant Medical Oncologist specialising in the diagnosis and management of complex solid tumours. With a focus on hepatobiliary cancers, she provides compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Dr Childs prioritises clear communication and thoughtful guidance, ensuring patients and their families feel supported throughout every stage of diagnosis and treatment.

Dr Childs completed her undergraduate medical education at the University of Cambridge, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB BChir) in 2008. Advancing her academic interest in translational cancer research, she subsequently earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from University College London in 2018. In addition to her clinical commitments, Dr Childs serves as a Principal Clinical Research Fellow, leading early-phase clinical trials and contributing to the advancement of novel cancer therapies.

In her clinical practice, Dr Childs focuses on hepatobiliary malignancies, including hepatocellular carcinoma as well as pancreatic and biliary tract cancers. She has a strong clinical interest in experimental cancer medicine, targeted systemic therapies, and precise diagnostic techniques, such as diagnostic liver biopsies, to ensure accurate tumour characterisation and optimal treatment selection. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of specialists, Dr Childs is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and expanding access to innovative cancer treatments.
