Dr Alan Fraser

Dr Alan Fraser is an esteemed Consultant Cardiologist who provides comprehensive clinical care for patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions. Dedicated to delivering accurate diagnoses and compassionate care, Dr Fraser focuses on non-invasive diagnostic techniques to evaluate heart structure and function. His clinical work centres on helping patients understand their cardiovascular health and guiding them through tailored management plans to optimise heart performance and overall well-being.

In his clinical practice, Dr Fraser has significant expertise in non-invasive cardiovascular imaging, particularly through advanced echocardiography. His specialist interests encompass the early detection of heart muscle disease, the underlying mechanisms and management of heart failure, and the assessment of complex heart valve disease. Additionally, he focuses on quantitative stress echocardiography, the non-invasive investigation of coronary artery disease, and the evaluation of interactions between the heart and large blood vessels. Dr Fraser also contributes extensively to evaluating the safety and clinical performance of high-risk medical devices used in cardiovascular medicine.

Dr Fraser earned his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degrees from the University of Edinburgh, followed by postgraduate clinical training in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Cardiff, alongside a research fellowship in Rotterdam. A leader in his field, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, a Fellow of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, and a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales. He has also served as President of the European Association of Echocardiography, reflecting his commitment to advancing diagnostic standards in cardiac patient care.
