Mr Adam Christopher Cox is a Consultant Urological and Robotic Surgeon in South East Wales. He sees private patients at St Joseph's Hospital in Newport.
Mr Cox is an expert in diseases of the prostate gland. He provides a complete service for men concerned about prostate cancer or their urinary symptoms. He is one of only a few urological surgeons in the UK able to perform all of the following operations on the prostate: robotic surgery for prostate cancer, Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) and REZUM (water vapour/steam ablation of the prostate).
HoLEP the gold-standard surgical treatment for men with urine retention and enlarged prostates (>80cc in volume). REZUM is a state-of-the-art minimally invasive day case treatment for men who are interested in treating the symptoms of benign prostatic enlargement in order to avoid taking medication whilst also preserving their sexual function.
Mr Cox was awarded a postgraduate doctorate (MD) by Cardiff University following scientific research into mechanisms of prostate cancer development at the European Cancer Stem Cell Research Institute. He later went on to complete sub-specialist training in prostate cancer and robotic surgery under the mentorship of some of the UK's leading experts in the field.
In addition, Mr Cox possesses a comprehensive understanding of general urological complaints, including the investigation and diagnosis of all suspected urological cancers (i.e. of the kidney, bladder, prostate, and testicle) and the management of erectile dysfunction.

I met Mr Cox when I was found to have chronic water retention and was completely unaware of potential treatments. He took great pains to describe the condition and the best way of treating it. He also left me in no doubt that he could resolve my condition. We decided that Holep was the way forward and a date was set for my procedure. Throughout my dealings with Mr Cox he took great lengths to reassure me when I had questions or concerns and thankfully my operation was a great success. At my follow up visit my results were discussed and only benign tissue in copious amounts ( 180g) was detected. I think Mr Cox is a brilliant surgeon, but equally important a great man to work with in such circumstances. My urinary situation is now the best it has been for many years.

Made me feel comfortable on the day prior to the surgery, providing clear information of what the operation involved and what to expect afterwards. Also was relaxed during the surgery which allowed me to feel calm throughout.

My clinical experience with Mr Cox was excellent from the first consultation and then throughout into my clinical diagnosis/treatment. His communication was clear and concise and he provided me with all information that I needed to know in relation to my diagnosis and forthcoming clinical procedures. He was also readily available to answer any queries or concerns that I had and he responded promptly to these. I find him very approachable and I feel very comfortable in his care. He explained clearly the next stages of investigation/treatment post my operation and his follow up appointments are efficiently booked. Very pleased with the level of care provided.

I experienced months of issues and several visits to hospital before meeting with Mr Cox. He was very caring and took the time to listen. He understood my problems and put me at ease. He arranged exploratory scans, quickly diagnosed the issue and carried out treatment. I've not had any issues since and would not hesitate to book another appointment in the future if needed.

Adam was very helpful when telling me about the procedure that I needed and also offered me a better procedure than I would have got if I had waited for the NHS. overall fantastic from start to finish.

Straightforward appointment with no request for GP's introduction. I had no idea what to expect but the Consultation flowed with explanations and possible side effects and reassurances all conducted at a steady pace. There was old fashioned courtesy helping me on with my coat and offering to escort me back to reception. This was followed up with a 250 word report beautifully presented.

I was very happy with the treatment I received from Mr Cox. Everything was explained to me clearly. I was particularly grateful to him for arranging for my SPC to be removed at Morriston Hospital.
