Mr Rashid qualified as a medical doctor in 1994. He is on the Specialist
Register of the General Medical Council in plastic surgery. He underwent
extensive surgical training and rotated through various units throughout Ireland,
UK and Taiwan. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCSI)
in 1997 and after training in plastic surgery in Belfast passed the
Intercollegiate Board Examination in Plastic Surgery (FRCS (plast)) in 2005.
After a fellowship in Paediatric Plastic Surgery in the Great Ormond Street
Hospital for Sick Children in London he was appointed as a Consultant in Burns
and Plastic Surgery in University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (2007-2010).
During that period he also completed a fellowship in Aesthetic Surgery in the
Extreme Makeover famed The McIndoe Centre in East Grinstead. Mr Rashid then was
appointed as Consultant in Burns and Plastic Surgery in the St Helens and
Knowsley NHS Trust (2010-2011) before embarking on a fellowship in advance
microsurgery and lymphoedema in Taiwan before returning to Northern Ireland to
take the post of Consultant in Plastic Surgery and Burns at the Belfast HSC
Trust in 2012. His base hospitals are the Royal Victoria Hospital and Royal
Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.
Mr Rashid also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Aesthetic Surgery with
distinction from the Queen Mary University of London.
Mr Rashid is passionate about teaching and is a recognized trainer by
the General Medical Council. He also participates regularly in training of
plastic surgeons overseas. He has published tens of papers in peer reviewed
medical journals and has also authored a chapter in a book on
neurofibromatosis. He also has presented his work widely in national and
international meetings.

Doctor Rashid removed a carcinoma for me and I never felt a thing and his friendly manner helped me relax I'm so glad I went to Southside Clinic and the girls are so friendly. Thank you everybody for looking after me x

My doctor (I hope this is correct name) he was absolutely great. He told me what my doctor wanted to happen, me abid rashid was so great, he spoke all the time explained what he was going to try kept asking me was I ok, this means so much. He explained what not to do, to rest stay away from trying he decided to do a procedure he felt was better for my are arm, and sure in a few months I could come back for the other procedures. The doctor was good at checking in on me by asking did that hurt. Was I ok and do i feel alright .
