Mr George Prezerakos is a Consultant Neurosurgeon specialising in Spinal Surgery at the National Hospital for Neurosurgery, Queen Square, University College London Hospital. He is also an Honorary Associate Professor in the Institute for Neurology at University College London.
Biography
Mr George Prezerakos is a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon and Honorary Associate Professor in the Institute for Neurology, University College London.
After his graduation in medicine at the University of Athens, he trained in neurosurgery at the University College London, Imperial College Hospitals and Barts and The London combined programme.
Mr Prezerakos completed two fellowship programmes in spinal surgery and minimally invasive spinal surgery at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell, New York and at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore in London.
He has presented his research in artificial disc spinal motion preservation nationally and internationally and has published several papers on tumour excision techniques and cervical deformity correction.
Mr George Prezerakos can treat slipped disc, spinal fracture, sciatica, brain tumors, back and neck pain and complex spinal problems.In his current clinical practice, Mr Prezerakos sees patients with a broad spectrum of spinal conditions, including back pain, neck pain, sciatica, lumbar stenosis, slipped disc, spinal instability, spondylolisthesis, osteoporotic spinal fractures, primary and metastatic spinal tumours and cervical deformity. Mr Prezerakos also has specialist expertise in treating patients with postoperative spinal conditions.
Outside of his consultancy work, Mr Prezerakos is actively involved in clinical research and has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals. His current research interests include incorporating the patient experience into clinical decision making as well as developing and validating emerging spinal technologies, such as robotics and navigation
Mr Prezerakos is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and holds professional memberships with the Society of British Neurological Surgeons, the British Association Of Spine Surgeons and the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies.
