Jarnail Bal was and still is my neurosurgeon for a known ‘difficult to operate’ brain tumour called a craniopharyngioma. On meeting him I would immediately put at ease, he was warm, kind and professional and exceptionally easy to talk to. His exemplary bedside manner is matched by his surgical skill and medical knowledge. I knew i was in the best hands after our first conversation, felt i could ask him anything and he would be candid and clear. He kept me and my sister fully informed of all the surgical risks and what to expect afterwards, he welcomed all of our questions and neither of us ever felt intimidated to ask him anything. He gave me all the time i needed and i felt listened to and validated in probably one of the worst moments of my life, that is a true skill. I work as an ACP and can tell you a lot of doctors dont have that skill, let alone surgeons! The surgery was a huge success. Jarnail Bal effectively saved my vision, my independence, my life. He managed the notoriously tricky risk benefit line with sirgery for these tumours and surgically went as far as he could without causing me harm. I am now back at work, in the NHS, helping others. He has given me a second chance at life and i owe him everything. His follow up care was remarkable too, always checking on me, talking to my family and being open and approachable- and encouraging me at every step in what was a very scary time for me. If there were more people like Jarnail Bal in the world, it would be a better place and i say that with the utmost sincerity as a fellow clinician and fellow human being. He kn...

Mr. Bal is a highly skilled, professional, and compassionate neurosurgeon who consistently went above and beyond expectations throughout every stage of my care: from the initial diagnosis and pre-surgery preparation to the surgery itself and all post-operative follow-up. What particularly stood out was how accessible and responsive he was throughout the entire process. He was always available when we had questions or concerns, took the time to explain things clearly, and made us feel that my care remained a priority even outside of scheduled appointments. The surgery itself, a craniotomy, was performed with exceptional skill, precision, and care. This attention to detail extended to every aspect of my post-operative care, including the dressing of the surgical site, monitoring my recovery, and the eventual removal of the staples. Mr. Bal was also extremely diligent when additional concerns arose during my recovery. Rather than focusing solely on the neurosurgical aspects of my care, he took a proactive approach to ensuring that I received the appropriate follow-up, making timely referrals to other specialists when needed, and continuing to follow my progress closely. Throughout what was a very difficult and stressful experience, Mr. Bal combined exceptional clinical expertise with genuine compassion and commitment to his patient. I am extremely grateful for the quality of care I received and would highly recommend him to anyone requiring neurosurgical treatment.

Mr Bal is an incredibly kind and comforting presence, and his warmth upon greeting me for a follow-up, having had surgery three months earlier, was admirable. And this is all not to mention that his surgery on my pituitary adenoma was immensely successful! And that the way he presented the process and decisions about the surgery before it had happened were very clear and easy to take in, and made the process of preparing to undergo the surgery so much easier than it could have been. Throughout the entire experience I felt extremely lucky to have him treating me, and am extremely grateful to him.

Following a spinal epidural abscess that led to life-threatening sepsis, a prolonged stay in Neurological ICU, months of rehabilitation, and later brain surgery, I found myself facing one of the most difficult periods of my life. Throughout this journey, Mr. Bal provided not only exceptional medical care but also reassurance, kindness, and unwavering professionalism. From my first appointment, Mr. Bal took the time to listen carefully, understand my concerns, and explain my condition and treatment options in a way that was both thorough and easy to understand. His expertise was evident at every stage, but what made the greatest difference to me was the genuine compassion he showed. He never made me feel like just another patient. I always felt heard, respected, and involved in decisions about my care. When I underwent my open craniotomy, I was naturally anxious not only about the surgery itself but also about the recovery and the long-term impact it might have on my life. Mr. Bal's skill as a surgeon is nothing short of remarkable. The operation was a success, and today there is virtually no visible scar from the craniotomy. The care, precision, and attention to detail that went into my treatment continue to amaze me, and I remain deeply grateful for the outcome. The confidence and trust that Mr. Bal inspired helped me navigate some very frightening and uncertain circumstances. His calm manner, attention to detail, and commitment to achieving the best possible outcome gave me reassurance when I needed it most. I truly believe that the quality of care I received under his...

Mr Jarnail Bal is a talented and meticulous neurosurgeon, and one I recommend to patients without hesitation.
