Dr Tom Cunneen

Dr Tom Cunneen is a highly qualified and dual fellowship-trained Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmic Surgeon who is dedicated to providing exceptional eye care. With a patient-centred approach, he focuses on delivering precise, tailored treatments to improve and protect his patients' vision. Dr Cunneen is widely recognised for his expertise in advanced microsurgical techniques, ensuring that individuals receive the highest standard of clinical care in a reassuring and professional environment.

Dr Cunneen completed his medical degree with honours at the University of Western Australia in 2003, followed by a master's degree from the University of Sydney. He undertook specialist ophthalmic training at a prestigious eye hospital in Sydney, before pursuing further advanced training overseas. This included a Corneal and Refractive Surgical fellowship at an internationally renowned eye hospital in Manchester, as well as a second fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery. Dr Cunneen is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), where he has served as the Treasurer of the Western Australian branch. He is also an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Cornea Surgeons, the Australian and New Zealand Society of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeons, and serves on the board of the Australian Society of Ophthalmologists.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Cunneen is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Western Australia, contributing to the education of the next generation of medical professionals. His research has been published extensively in international medical literature, reflecting his commitment to staying at the forefront of ophthalmic advancements. He has a particular clinical interest in laser refractive surgery, cataract surgery, and eyelid surgery, and was the first surgeon in Western Australia to introduce corneal cross-linking to the public health system.
