Dr Johnstone completed her medical education at the University of Sydney, where she earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) after relocating to Australia from Vancouver, Canada. Following the completion of her medical degree, she gained diverse clinical experience working as a junior doctor in Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine across Newcastle, Darwin, and regional Queensland. She subsequently completed her specialised General Practice training in the Upper Hunter Valley, further refining her skills in community-based medicine.
