Dr Simon Hew, a gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist, focuses on early endoscopic detection and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer. His dedication extends to ensuring high-quality endoscopy, emphasizing bowel and gastric cancer screening, and addressing pancreatic disease. His clinical expertise encompasses liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.
Graduating with honours from Monash University in 2008, Dr Hew was awarded the clinical medicine prize. Completed his advanced gastroenterology training in Victoria and Tasmania, Dr hew obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2016. Further subspecialty training in interventional endoscopy, including ERCP, EUS, and complex polypectomy, was pursued at Monash Health and the Austin Hospital. His expertise expanded during an interventional fellowship at Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada, focusing on image-enhanced and third-space endoscopy between 2019 and 2020.
Currently practicing as a gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist at Monash Health, Dr Hew also serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at Monash University. He holds the role of Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology at Casey Hospital and the Endoscopy Clinic at Monash Health. Dr Hew is deeply committed to mentoring and teaching future gastroenterologists at local and national levels. His involvement in clinical research is evident through publications in esteemed endoscopy and gastroenterology journals.
Apart from his public commitments, Dr Hew offers private consultations in Clayton and performs Endoscopy procedures at Jessie McPherson and Glen Iris Private Hospitals.
