About Dr Owen McKay
Dr Owen McKay is a specialist Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with subspecialty expertise in complex therapeutic interventional endoscopy and pancreaticobiliary diseases. Dr McKay graduated in medicine from the University of Newcastle and completed foundational physician training at Royal North Shore Hospital before undertaking advanced gastroenterology training across major tertiary centres. To build advanced expertise in complex procedures, he completed two dedicated interventional endoscopy fellowships at leading Australian centres: Westmead Hospital (2020) and Monash Health (2021).
In addition to his clinical service across public and private hospital networks, Dr McKay is deeply engaged in translational research through Monash University, focusing on advanced endoscopic tissue sampling as a platform for comprehensive genomic profiling in pancreatic cancer and cholangiocarcinoma.
