Over all pretty good only thing was while waiting not a lot of information as to how long the wait would be or what would be next ie you being going into this room and strip down and then into surgery nothing major just would be nice to inform as to how things work

Overall, the procedure for my colonoscopy was a positive experience with pleasant and efficient nursing staff always introducing themselves by name. It was obviously a bit of a production line and, while this is to be expected, I think a little more “small talk” and engagement with patients would be helpful. One nurse and the anaesthetist seemed particularly task-focused. My suggestions for improvement would be: Ensure the anaesthetist always tells patients his role and his name. I had to ask. As mentioned before, have the nurses engage with patients a little more, to make them feel less like they are in a production line. A few quick words takes less than a minute. Ask patients, while waiting to go into the theatre area, if they would like the head of the bed raised and whether one blanket is enough. I was uncomfortable lying flat and was quite cold. For patients who need to arrive before reception opening hours, advise them that they will need to ring the front door bell. I was initially confused as to what to do when faced with locked doors. Fortunately, my husband spotted the “ring the bell” sign.

There was an hour and a half wait after appointment time but I imagine that’s to ensure patients are ready on time. In a rural area it’s often a lengthy drive to appointments.
