Dr Sean Cheng

Dr Sean Cheng is a highly qualified Consultant Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon who provides comprehensive eye care. He specialises in the medical and surgical management of retinal diseases, complex cataracts, and ocular trauma. With a patient-centred approach, Dr Cheng is dedicated to delivering advanced, evidence-based treatments to preserve and restore vision, ensuring that each patient receives personalised care tailored to their unique needs.

Dr Cheng began his academic journey at the University of Queensland, where he graduated with First Class Honours in Engineering before pursuing his medical training. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the same institution in 2004, followed by a Master of Medicine from the University of Sydney. After completing his specialist training, he was awarded the prestigious Topham Scholarship by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. This enabled him to undertake advanced sub-specialist training in the United Kingdom, completing two years of intensive Vitreoretinal Fellowships. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, achieving this qualification in 2016.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Cheng is actively involved in medical education and research. He serves as a Senior Lecturer, sharing his expertise to train the next generation of medical students, eye surgeons, and ophthalmic allied health professionals.
