Dr Eline Whist

Dr Eline Whist is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and eye surgeon with more than 15 years of experience in ophthalmology. She has subspecialty experience in ocular inflammatory disease, uveitis and medical retina and performs cataract and other ophthalmic surgeries.

Originally from Norway, Dr Whist moved to Australia to study medicine at the University of Newcastle. She also holds a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Her specialist training was undertaken through the Sydney Eye Hospital network, and her further training includes a fellowship with the Fred Hollows Foundation in Fiji and Alice Springs and a Professorial Fellowship under Professor Peter McCluskey in complex uveitis and medical retina. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO).

Her wider medical background includes volunteer work in Africa with Doctors Without Borders (MSF). Dr Whist has participated in clinical trials involving diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration and publishes in peer-reviewed journals on an ongoing basis. She is also involved in teaching junior eye doctors and medical students.
