Dr Sarah Hope

Associate Professor Sarah Hope is a highly dedicated Paediatric Cardiologist who specialises in diagnosing and managing heart conditions in infants, children, adolescents, and adults with congenital heart disease. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, Dr Hope is committed to providing comprehensive cardiac care. Her clinical expertise spans non-invasive cardiac imaging, particularly echocardiography, which she utilises to diagnose and monitor congenital and acquired heart conditions. She is also widely recognised for her clinical focus on the assessment of vascular mechanical properties and their potential associations with long-term cardiovascular risk.

Dr Hope obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Edinburgh in 1989. She completed her specialist training in Paediatric Cardiology in the United Kingdom before undertaking a prestigious Fellowship in Paediatric Cardiology at leading paediatric and medical centres in Melbourne. Her advanced academic and professional qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy, membership with the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in the United Kingdom, and a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Hope holds a prominent leadership role as the Head of Paediatric Cardiology Services for a major healthcare network. She is deeply passionate about global health and dedicates her time annually to humanitarian efforts aimed at eradicating Rheumatic Heart Disease in the Pacific Islands, where she assists with screening programmes and clinical care. Outside of her professional commitments, Dr Hope enjoys spending time in the kitchen crafting homemade chutneys and jellies, and she is an avid participant in lawn bowls.
