Dr Samya Lakis

Dr. Samya Lakis is an orthopaedic surgeon with specialised training through fellowships across Australia and New Zealand. She holds memberships in prominent medical societies including the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA), Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), Spine Society of Australia, and Australian Paediatric Orthopaedic Society.

Dr. Lakis obtained her MBBS degree from the University of Western Australia (UWA) and pursued diverse surgical experiences before focusing on orthopaedic surgery. Her post-fellowship advanced training took place at various prestigious institutions across Australia, where she honed her expertise in adult and paediatric spine surgery. This encompassed complex areas such as trauma, tumour, and degenerative spine conditions. She also underwent specialised training at Starship Children’s Hospital in Auckland, focusing on paediatric spine trauma, deformities, and general paediatric orthopaedics.

Currently, Dr. Lakis serves in both private and public sectors, with appointments at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, and an outreach clinic in Canberra facilitated through Orthosports at Hurstville.

Dr. Lakis is committed to education, actively engaging in teaching roles within her professional societies and providing educational support to orthopaedic trainees, paediatricians, GPs, and allied health professionals.
