Dr Petrina Kellar

Dr Petrina Kellar is a highly dedicated Gastroenterologist and Neurogastroenterologist who provides compassionate, patient-centred care. With a subspecialty focus on disorders of gut-brain interaction (also known as functional gut disorders) and gastrointestinal motility, she is committed to helping patients manage complex and often challenging digestive symptoms. Dr Kellar is also an accomplished Endoscopist, performing high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to ensure accurate assessments and tailored management plans.

Her clinical interests span a wide range of luminal and motility disorders, including the assessment of swallowing difficulties, reflux, chronic nausea, and vomiting syndromes. Dr Kellar has a particular interest in the overlap between eating disorders and gastrointestinal dysmotility, advocating for collaborative, multidisciplinary care to support her patients' overall well-being. She performs specialised diagnostic investigations, such as high-resolution oesophageal manometry and pH-impedance studies, which are essential for the pre-operative workup of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and dysphagia.

Dr Kellar completed her medical training with a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. Following her core training, she completed advanced fellowships in neurogastroenterology to refine her expertise in functional gut and motility disorders. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Demonstrating a strong commitment to clinical leadership and research, Dr Kellar serves on the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) Luminal Faculty Committee and the GESA Education Committee. She is also an active member of prominent international bodies, including the Australasian Neurogastroenterology and Motility Association (ANGMA), the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (ESNM), and the Rome Foundation.
