Dr Peter Illes

Dr Illes is an interventional cardiologist. They have a special interest in devices for heart failure. Dr Illes graduated in Johannesburg, South Africa. They then trained in internal medicine at the University of Capetown. Dr Illes attended the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne where they completed their cardiology training.

Dr Illes has specific interests in pacemaker insertion and specialised pacing, such as biventricular systems for heart failure, defibrillator insertion, and all aspects of interventional and diagnostic cardiology. They pioneered cardiac resynchronisation therapy in Australia. They were also the first implanter of leadless pacemakers in Sydney. Dr Illes has trained other physicians in this technology.
