Dr Peter Gourlas

Dr Peter Gourlas is a highly qualified General Surgeon and Colorectal Surgeon who provides comprehensive surgical care in Greenslopes, Australia. With a focus on delivering reassuring and patient-centred outcomes, he specialises in advanced minimally invasive techniques, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr Gourlas is dedicated to helping patients navigate complex gastrointestinal and abdominal conditions, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care tailored to their individual needs.

His clinical interests encompass a broad range of general and colorectal procedures. Dr Gourlas is particularly skilled in the surgical management of bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and diverticular disease, as well as performing hernia repairs. He is also a Conjoint Committee accredited Colonoscopist, routinely performing colonoscopies for diagnostic and preventative care. Dr Gourlas completed his undergraduate medical education at the University of Queensland, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, alongside a Bachelor of Science with Honours. He undertook his specialist General Surgical training in Brisbane, achieving Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2004. To further refine his expertise, he completed a post-graduate fellowship in Colorectal Surgery in Cambridge, England, and pursued advanced training courses in London and Ohio. He is an active Member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand and remains committed to medical education, overseeing training programmes for future Surgeons.
