Dr Jimmy Tee is a Consultant General Surgeon specialising in Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (HPB) surgery, based in Queensland. He holds a specialist interest in hernia repair, gallbladder disease and treating cancer surgically, and is also able to provide other general and laparoscopic surgery. He is also able to perform colonoscopy and gastroscopy, and gained his accreditation from the Gastroenterological Society of Australia. Dr Tee is an experienced clinician with a passion for leadership, and he is the Clinical Director of Surgery at Redcliffe Hospital. He is committed to surgical innovation, and his team helped to establish the first Rapid Access Service in Queensland for post-operative patients.
Dr Tee has 15 years of clinical experience. He earned his degree in Medicine from the University of Queensland in 2011, and obtained fellowship with the Royal Australaisan College of Surgeons in 2020. Throughout his training, he has gained specialist expertise in a variety of areas which has helped to expand his surgical knowledge. For example he undertook further training in transplant surgery, organ retrieval and renal access surgery at Princess Alexandra Hospital. He also completed an HPB fellowship in Singapore at Tan Tock Seng Hospital- a centre renowned for minimally invasive and multi-modal liver cancer treatment. He holds multiple professional memberships including the Australian & New Zealand Hepatic Pancreatic & Biliary Association (ANZHPBA), and the Australasian Gastro-intestinal Trial Group (AGITG).
Dr Tee is passionate about medical education and is a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators. He is also enthusiastic about clinical research and improving quality and safety in practice. His research has won multiple prizes including the South Australian Best Paper prize for his research on surgical infection, and the Jim Begonia Prize for surgical innovation. Outside of his work, he enjoys spending time with his family and spending time outside through both road and trail running.
