Dr Pamela Caleo

Dr Pamela Caleo is a highly dedicated Specialist General Surgeon who provides comprehensive surgical care to patients on the Sunshine Coast. With a sub-speciality interest in Colorectal Surgery and functional pelvic floor disorders, she is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. Dr Caleo manages a broad spectrum of general surgical and benign colorectal conditions, ensuring that each patient receives a tailored treatment plan designed to improve their health outcomes and overall quality of life.

Dr Caleo completed her medical education in North Queensland, graduating from James Cook University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. To build a comprehensive knowledge base, she rotated through various surgical sub-specialities as a Junior Doctor before focusing on General Surgery. She completed her advanced surgical training in Queensland and was awarded her Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2019. Following this, she undertook further specialised training through an international Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery in New Zealand, before returning to Australia to establish her practice.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Caleo is deeply committed to medical education, mentorship, and professional leadership. She is an active Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, serving as the current Chair of the Queensland Younger Fellow Advisory Committee and as a Member of the Queensland State Committee. She also contributes to surgical safety and standards as an Assessor for the Queensland Audit of Surgical Mortality, a Clinical Examiner, and a Reviewer for college scholarships and grants. Furthermore, she is an active Member of General Surgeons Australia, where she serves on the selection interview panel and acts as an Examiner.
