About Dr Damien Petersen
Dr Damien Petersen is a specialist colorectal surgeon at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital in Spring Hill. He completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland in 1991 and undertook surgical training through the Royal Brisbane Hospital programme, gaining a fellowship in general surgery (FRACS) in 2001.
He was then selected by the Training Board in Colorectal Surgery for a two-year programme of further subspecialist training at the Royal Melbourne and Western Hospitals and the Royal Adelaide Hospital. After returning to Brisbane in 2004, he commenced private practice at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital.
Dr Petersen has expertise in conditions affecting the colon, rectum and anus, with particular interests in incontinence, pelvic floor disorders and endometriosis. He operates privately at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital and publicly at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital.
He is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand and has served on the CSSANZ council since 2010.
