Dr Michael Leung

Dr Michael Leung is a highly qualified Consultant Cardiologist and Interventional Cardiologist who specialises in both the non-invasive and invasive management of cardiovascular conditions. With a patient-centred approach, he provides comprehensive care for individuals experiencing a wide range of symptoms, including chest discomfort, shortness of breath, and heart failure. Dr Leung is particularly recognised for his expertise in advanced cardiac imaging techniques, specifically Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI, which he utilises to deliver precise diagnoses and tailored treatment plans.

In his clinical practice, Dr Leung combines his extensive skills in interventional cardiology with advanced diagnostic tools to manage complex cases of coronary artery disease and ischaemic heart disease. His procedural capabilities include percutaneous coronary interventions, such as stenting and fractional flow reserve assessments. He also focuses on cardiovascular risk assessments and the management of structural heart conditions, including cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, pericardial disease, and cardiac masses, ensuring that patients receive the most appropriate and modern care available.

Dr Leung completed his medical training at Monash University, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1995. He went on to achieve his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2004. Committed to academic excellence and clinical research, he completed a postgraduate Fellowship in coronary intervention, followed by a PhD from Monash University in 2007, focusing on human coronary microvascular haemodynamics and aortic biomechanics. To further refine his skills in non-invasive diagnostics, he also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Cardiac CT and Cardiac MR imaging.
