Dr Merran Holmes

Dr Merran Holmes is a highly skilled General Surgeon who subspecialises as a Colorectal Surgeon. With a patient-centred approach, she is dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence-based care to individuals experiencing a wide range of abdominal and bowel conditions. Dr Holmes specialises in the management of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, pelvic floor disorders, and proctology. She is also fully accredited to perform both colonoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, ensuring her patients receive precise diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

Dr Holmes completed her medical education at the University of Newcastle, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine in 2012. She subsequently undertook her general surgical training through the local health district and was awarded her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2022. Committed to academic excellence, she completed a Master of Surgical Science in 2016 and is currently pursuing a PhD. To further refine her expertise, she completed advanced colorectal subspecialty training through the Australia and New Zealand Training Board in Colorectal Surgery programme. She is also a Conjoint Associate Lecturer at the University of Newcastle and holds professional accreditation with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.
