Dr Matthew Remedios

Dr Matthew Remedios is a highly regarded Consultant Gastroenterologist based in Auchenflower, Australia. Specialising in interventional and therapeutic endoscopy, he is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care for a wide range of digestive and gastrointestinal disorders. Dr Remedios is known for his reassuring and professional approach, ensuring that patients feel fully supported throughout their diagnostic and treatment journeys.

Dr Remedios completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland. He went on to undertake advanced training in Gastroenterology at major teaching hospitals in Queensland, followed by specialised fellowships in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and interventional endoscopy, including postgraduate training at a leading hospital in Toronto, Canada. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and a Fellow of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (FGESA). Demonstrating his commitment to clinical leadership, Dr Remedios has served as the Chair of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) Endoscopy Faculty and is an active Member of the organising committee for the Australia and New Zealand Endoscopy Leaders Forum.

With a strong clinical focus on advanced endoscopic procedures, Dr Remedios has particular expertise in managing complex conditions such as Barrett's oesophagus, biliary tract diseases, and small bowel disorders. He is highly skilled in performing advanced therapeutic techniques, including endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and small bowel enteroscopy. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Remedios is actively involved in teaching advanced endoscopy techniques and has been instrumental in establishing specialised radiofrequency ablation services in Queensland, ensuring patients have access to the latest evidence-based treatments.
