Dr Mark Whiting

Dr Mark Whiting is a highly qualified Ophthalmologist who specialises in the medical and surgical treatment of diseases affecting the front of the eye. Based in Geelong, he provides comprehensive ophthalmic care, with a particular focus on corneal transplants, cataract surgery, pterygium surgery, keratoconus, and ocular surface diseases. In addition to his sub-specialist expertise, Dr Whiting practises general ophthalmology, managing common conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. His patient-centred approach ensures that individuals receive tailored, reassuring care for both complex and routine eye conditions.

Dr Whiting completed his medical degree at a leading university in Melbourne, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1993. He undertook his internship and worked as a surgical resident at major metropolitan hospitals before completing his specialist training in ophthalmology at a leading eye and ear hospital in Victoria. To further refine his skills, he completed advanced fellowships in diseases of the front of the eye, including corneal and cataract surgery, at prestigious specialist eye hospitals in London and Manchester in the United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO).

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr Whiting is deeply committed to education and international humanitarian work. He serves as a Senior Staff Specialist at a major eye clinic and has served as an Optics Examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He actively contributes to training the next generation of medical professionals, teaching medical, optometry, and ophthalmology students. Additionally, Dr Whiting has dedicated his time to providing essential ophthalmic care to underserved communities, participating in humanitarian eye care programmes in East Timor, Nepal, and Tonga.
