Dr. Mark Rickman

Dr. Mark Rickman is a highly accomplished and internationally recognised Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in hip and knee surgery, as well as complex and pelvic trauma. With a patient-centred approach, he focuses on delivering personalised care that supports individuals from their initial injury or joint condition through to complete recovery. Dr. Rickman is particularly dedicated to joint preservation techniques, utilising minimally invasive procedures to achieve optimal outcomes and restore mobility for his patients.

His clinical practice encompasses a comprehensive range of advanced orthopaedic treatments. Dr. Rickman performs hip and knee replacements, including partial knee replacements and direct anterior approach mini-hip replacements, alongside arthroscopic procedures of both the hip and knee. As a leading specialist in pelvic and complex trauma reconstruction, he is highly skilled in managing fractures around joints and addressing long-term complications of trauma, such as infections, non-unions, mal-unions, and limb length discrepancies. He also utilises circular frame techniques to treat complex cases.

Dr. Rickman obtained his primary medical qualification, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), from the University of Sheffield in 1994. He completed his specialist orthopaedic training in Oxford and went on to earn a Doctor of Medicine (MD) research degree. To further refine his expertise, he completed post-graduate fellowships in revision arthroplasty and pelvic fractures. Dr. Rickman is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS in Trauma and Orthopaedics), a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA), and a Member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA).
