He was raised in Newcastle, NSW, and earned his medical degree from the University of Newcastle Medical School in 2006. Dr. Boccola then underwent extensive training in general surgery in Victoria, resulting in the award of his Fellowship to the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2015.
