Dr Lisa Gillinder

Dr Lisa Gillinder is a highly accomplished Neurologist and Epileptologist who provides expert care for patients experiencing complex neurological conditions. With a primary focus on epilepsy diagnostics and management, she is recognised for her pioneering work in advanced diagnostic techniques and the treatment of autoimmune epilepsy. Dr Gillinder is dedicated to delivering precise diagnoses and tailored treatment plans, helping patients manage their symptoms and improve their overall quality of life.

As a leading Specialist in her field, Dr Gillinder possesses unique expertise in stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG), a highly advanced surgical method used to identify the precise source of seizures within the brain. She was the first female Neurologist in Australia qualified to practise this technique. Her clinical interests also extend to antibody-associated epilepsy, where she has made significant contributions to identifying the link between specific antibodies and seizure generation. By utilising innovative diagnostic tools and targeted therapies, such as immunotherapy, she works to provide new treatment pathways for patients who do not respond to standard therapies.

Dr Gillinder completed her undergraduate training in medical radiation technology at the Queensland University of Technology before obtaining her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Queensland, graduating in 2010. She completed her comprehensive Physician and Neurologist training in Brisbane, followed by a specialised epilepsy fellowship. Dr Gillinder holds a Master of Philosophy and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and remains actively involved in clinical research programmes aimed at improving patient outcomes in epilepsy care.
