Professor Peter Silburn is a distinguished neurologist with an international reputation for his contributions to clinical practice, research, and education. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland in 1988, later achieving Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. His specialist training in neurology included a fellowship in clinical neurology, with experience at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford, where he also contributed as a lecturer in neurology at the University of Oxford.
Professor Silburn has played a pioneering role in advancing neuromodulation, establishing several centres across Australia and contributing as a founding member of advisory groups for deep brain stimulation technologies. He currently serves as Clinical and Education Director of the Asia Pacific Centre for Neuromodulation at the Queensland Brain Institute.

In recognition of his significant contributions to the field, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2013 Australia Day Honours.
