Dr Kavitha Subramaniam

Associate Professor Kavitha Subramaniam is a highly skilled and dedicated Gastroenterologist who provides comprehensive, personalised care tailored to each patient's unique needs. Known for her professional and empathetic approach, she is committed to delivering high-quality clinical outcomes. Her clinical practice encompasses all aspects of gastroenterology, with a particular focus on managing complex inflammatory bowel diseases, functional gastrointestinal disorders, and gastrointestinal bleeding. She is also highly proficient in performing diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, as well as conducting colorectal cancer screening.

Dr Subramaniam completed her medical degree at the University of Western Australia. She then pursued her advanced training in Gastroenterology in Perth, Western Australia, which led to her admission as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Alongside her clinical work, she is actively involved in teaching and training Medical Students, Junior Doctors, and Gastroenterology Advanced Trainees, helping to shape the next generation of medical professionals.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Subramaniam is a respected researcher who has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, particularly on the subject of inflammatory bowel diseases. She actively participates in clinical research, including multi-centre clinical trials. Her expertise is widely recognised, and she has contributed to several local, national, and federal government committees. Notably, she is a founding member of the Gastroenterological Network for Intestinal Ultrasonography and has served on the executive committee of the Gastroenterology Society of Australia Inflammatory Bowel Disease Faculty. She has also contributed to the Therapeutic Goods Administration as a Member of the Advisory Committee on Medicines and served on the organising scientific programme committees for major national and international gastroenterology conferences.
