Dr John Roe

Dr John Roe is a highly qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in knee surgery, lower limb trauma, and the management of hip and knee arthritis. As a former international professional rugby player, Dr Roe possesses a unique, first-hand understanding of sports injuries and the physical demands placed on the human body. This background heavily influences his clinical practice, where he is dedicated to helping patients regain their mobility, manage pain, and return to their active lifestyles.

His clinical practice encompasses a comprehensive range of treatments for the lower limb. Dr Roe is particularly focused on all aspects of knee surgery, including sports-related knee injuries, primary and revision knee replacements, and complex knee trauma. He is also highly skilled in joint preservation techniques, such as meniscal repair and meniscal transplantation, as well as the management of hip arthritis. In addition to his clinical work, he contributes to the medical community as a Senior Lecturer at a major university medical school and serves as a Director of Orthopaedic Training, helping to guide the next generation of surgeons.

Dr Roe completed his foundational medical education at the University of Queensland, graduating with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He later earned a Doctor of Philosophy from the Queensland University of Technology in 2012, focusing his doctoral research on the mechanical characteristics of hip replacement systems. Dr Roe achieved his Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2018 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association in the same year. He further advanced his expertise by completing a prestigious, specialist orthopaedic fellowship dedicated to sports orthopaedics and knee surgery.
