Dr John Gunn

Dr John Gunn is a dedicated and compassionate Paediatrician who provides comprehensive care for babies, children, and adolescents. He is committed to supporting families through all stages of child development, from infancy through to early adulthood. With a clinical focus that spans all aspects of child health, Dr Gunn has a particular interest in newborn medicine, acute paediatric care, and behavioural paediatric medicine. He believes that clear communication is the cornerstone of effective healthcare, ensuring that families and the medical team are fully aligned to achieve the best possible outcomes for every child.

Dr Gunn completed his medical education at the University of Queensland, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2005. Following his graduation, he undertook extensive postgraduate training in paediatric medicine, gaining valuable experience in intensive care units and acute medicine for both infants and older children. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, reflecting his high standard of clinical expertise and dedication to the field of Paediatrics.

Throughout his career, Dr Gunn has worked across diverse clinical settings, including major metropolitan paediatric hospitals, regional units, and remote healthcare facilities where he provided specialised care to Indigenous children. This broad experience has equipped him with a deep understanding of complex medical conditions and diverse patient needs. As a father himself, Dr Gunn understands the unique challenges of parenting and brings a reassuring, empathetic approach to his practice. Outside of his clinical work, he enjoys spending time with his family, camping, and playing amateur golf.
