Dr Joel Lewin

Dr Joel Lewin is a highly qualified General Surgeon who specialises in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. With a strong focus on minimally invasive techniques, he provides comprehensive surgical care for patients experiencing a wide range of abdominal conditions. Dr Lewin is dedicated to delivering patient-centred care, ensuring that individuals feel fully informed and supported throughout their surgical journey. His clinical practice encompasses both elective and emergency general surgery, with a particular emphasis on achieving optimal outcomes through advanced surgical approaches.

Dr Lewin completed his postgraduate medical degree at the University of Queensland in 2012. He subsequently obtained his Fellowship in General Surgery in 2020. To further refine his expertise, he undertook extensive subspecialty post-fellowship training through the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Hepatic, Pancreatic and Biliary Association (AANZHPBA) across several high-volume tertiary centres. Dr Lewin is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a founding member of the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Minimally Invasive Pancreatic Surgery (AANZMIPS) collaborative. He also holds memberships with the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA) and serves as a Lecturer for the University of Queensland School of Medicine.

In his clinical practice, Dr Lewin focuses on the surgical management of both benign and malignant conditions affecting the gallbladder, liver, and pancreas. He is highly skilled in performing laparoscopic and robotic procedures, which offer patients the benefits of reduced recovery times and minimal scarring. His areas of interest also include minimally invasive surgery for abdominal and groin hernias, as well as spleen and adrenal conditions.
