Dr Issam Muteir

Dr Issam Muteir is a highly dedicated and compassionate General Physician who specialises in General Medicine and Cardiology. With a patient-centred approach, he focuses on the comprehensive evaluation and management of complex acute and chronic medical conditions. Dr Muteir is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care, ensuring that each patient receives a personalised treatment plan tailored to their unique health needs. Dr Muteir obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from Al-Nahrain University in 2000, subsequently completing his internship and specialist training in Internal Medicine in Baghdad in 2006. After relocating to Australia under the prestigious Endeavour Research Scholarship, he conducted significant research into early diabetes complications and the role of antioxidants. He completed his basic physician training and advanced training in Acute Care and General Medicine through major regional health networks, alongside specialised training in cardiology. Dr Muteir holds a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP). He has also pursued further postgraduate studies, working towards a Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology.

Throughout his career, Dr Muteir has maintained a strong interest in cardiovascular diseases, preventative medicine, and epidemiological research. His clinical focus spans the management of complex multi-system disorders, diagnostic studies, and disease prevention. In addition to his clinical work, he has contributed to the medical community as an Associate Lecturer, teaching biomedical and health sciences.
