Dr Deepani Rathnayake

Dr Deepani Rathnayake is a highly qualified Consultant Dermatologist who provides comprehensive care for a wide range of skin, hair, and nail conditions. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she is dedicated to delivering personalised dermatological treatments tailored to each individual's needs. Her clinical practice encompasses general Dermatology, with a particular focus on managing complex skin concerns and promoting long-term skin health.

Dr Rathnayake completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with honours from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in 2001, where she was also awarded the Barr Kumar Kulasinghe memorial prize for surgery. She went on to obtain her Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Dermatology from the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine at the University of Colombo in 2009. In recognition of her academic excellence, she was awarded the Sixth Dr D. A. Gunawardana Memorial Gold Medal by the Sri Lanka College of Dermatologists in 2010. Dr Rathnayake completed further specialist training in Australia and became a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2015.

Throughout her career, Dr Rathnayake has developed significant expertise in specialised areas of Dermatology. Her clinical interests include hair disorders, pigmentary disorders, tropical dermatology, skin cancer, eczema, and acne. She is also highly skilled in performing platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments for the scalp and face. In addition to her clinical work, Dr Rathnayake is actively involved in research and has published numerous articles on hair disorders, dermoscopy, pigmentary disorders, and tropical dermatology, as well as contributing book chapters on depigmentation agents and hair dermoscopy.
