Dr Ajay Kumar

Dr Ajay Kumar is a highly qualified and dedicated Consultant Dermatologist who provides comprehensive care for a wide range of skin, hair, and nail conditions. With a patient-centred approach, he is committed to delivering personalised treatment plans that address both medical and aesthetic concerns. Dr Kumar focuses on offering reassuring, evidence-based care, ensuring his patients feel supported and well-informed throughout their treatment journey.

Dr Kumar possesses extensive expertise in the diagnosis and management of skin cancers, specialising in surgical interventions such as flap and graft repairs. His broad clinical interests also encompass general and paediatric dermatology. He is highly experienced in managing chronic inflammatory skin conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, and hidradenitis suppurativa (recurrent boils). Additionally, Dr Kumar has a keen interest in treating pigmentary disorders, such as vitiligo, and identifying the cutaneous signs of connective tissue diseases.

Dr Kumar began his medical journey in India, where he trained and qualified as a Dermatologist, earning his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Demonstrating academic excellence early in his career, he was a recipient of the prestigious National Science Talent Award, which is presented to the top one hundred science students in India. After relocating to Australia, he completed a dedicated research year at a leading skin and cancer research foundation. He then undertook rigorous specialist dermatology training across several prominent tertiary hospitals. Dr Kumar successfully completed his fellowship and was admitted as a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (FACD) in 2001.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Kumar is actively involved in the wider medical community. He has contributed to the advancement of dermatological science through the publication of numerous articles in both national and international peer-reviewed journals. He also regularly shares his expertise by presenting at medical conferences. Outside of his professional commitments, Dr Kumar enjoys travelling and playing tennis.
